COVID-19
Our school follows the direction of the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education regarding COVID-19 (novel coronavirus). Learn the simple steps you can take to unite against the virus and slow its spread
Class Dojo will continue to be our main mode of communicating information and notices. All official notices to parents will be made via our ClassDojo, our school website, and the school app ‘skool loop’.
The Ministry of Health is the Government agency leading the response to COVID-19 and should be your first port of call for health and status information: COVID-19 - Ministry of Health

Sickness:
If you or your child is feeling unwell please stay at home. Please let our office staff know (not the teacher) if your child is away on any day. If during the day your child complains of feeling unwell we will ask that your child is picked up from school.
The support from all parents if your child is not feeling well is appreciated. Children have been collected quickly and smoothly, and we thank you for this.
Contact and communication between Home and School:
Please remain easily and immediately contactable. If you are not able to check your phone at work, even for a short period of time, then please have alternative contacts who are immediately contactable.
Please check Class Dojo regularly as this will be our major mode of communication.
Medication at School:
Due to children not being at school if feeling unwell, there will be no need for school staff to dispense products such as cough mixture, panadol, throat lozenges, etc. Asthma inhalers will continue to be held in the school’s office, and other specific medication that is prescribed for a child on a longer-term basis will be managed on a case by case basis in conjunction with admin staff. If you have a query about this, please email Nayna in our school office This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Hygiene:
Our teachers have continued to teach the children about hygiene practices such as hand washing, food/drink bottle sharing, coughing into elbow, respecting others space, letting family adults or staff know if feeling unwell, etc.
School health and safety measures to continue include:
- People who are unwell should stay away and not be at school – this remains a priority. Children who become ill during the school day will need to be collected immediately.
- If people are sick, they should stay home (phone Healthline or their GP and get tested if they have cold or flu symptoms).
- Follow isolation rules if a positive case or a household contact case.
- Continue to regularly wash and dry hands, sneeze and cough into elbows.
- Soap, water and the ability to dry hands will be provided in bathrooms.
- Support contact tracing efforts by displaying QR Code posters for the NZ COVID Tracer App.
Future Probable or Confirmed Cases of Covid-19 – The management any such scenario in a school will be carried out in conjunction with and following the advice of the ministry of health, the ministry of education, and the local medical officer of health. Please refer to Ministry of Health information for self-isolation for more information.
We will continue to update you when changes are made, and as we receive updates from the Ministry of Health or Ministry of Education.
